Hey Fellow Folks!

So some time back, I gave a post regarding Importing .vcf Contact Files in Bluestacks for PC, but that was for Bluestacks version 0.7 (older). First of all I'm gonna summon that article in the the following link:

Now, I'd like to talk about importing the same .vcf (VCard) contact files to latest Bluestacks version 0.8, where the method & interface has transited a little.

INTRODUCTION

Let's recall that Bluestacks has recently been upgraded to version 0.8 (0.8.6, current exact), the latest Android 4.0+ devices based Bluestacks, little dichotomous to the previous Android 2.2+ devices based version.

The interface has developed its graphics to the next level, but some settings' locations have also changed & the preference to manage contacts is not that easily explore-able in the latest Bluestacks version.

One of those hidden Settings, we might be interested in would be the one to import your Contacts, which you might have in .vcf (vcard) File Format, to your Bluestacks. Now the replies to why would you like these Contacts in your Computer & too, in Bluestacks can be more than one. But one of the best of the answers would be to run Apps, like Whatsapp, Viber & Line, on Bluestacks, that utilize your Contacts directory in the machine.

PRE-REQUISITES

So Pre-requirements for this way to work like a charm, would be:

1. Bluestacks Installed on your PC, :P it's a little obvious but I just mentioned it to mention :D

2. Contacts already present in .vcf (VCard) File Format anywhere on your PC. Many of the today's modern Smart-Phones support the Backing up of the Contacts in their directory, you need to somehow find a way to backup your Phone's Contacts in .vcf File Format.

The ways to create those .vcf Formats, could be use of an App (like Android or iOS App) or use of a software on your PC that can interact with your Phone using Data Cable, Bluetooth , Wi-fi or some other connection.

On this Blog, I've already posted a way to backup Contacts of your Samsung Smart Phone, using Samsung Kies (Samsung's PC Suite Software). Here's that post:

Note: Backup your Contacts in .vcf format & in a separate new file, because it's gonna create a large number of files, while backing up.

3. A File Exploring (File Manager) App for your Bluestacks Android App Player for PC, like ES File Explorer. To see how to Download & Install ES File Explorer on Bluestacks for PC, check the following post:

THE METHOD

So let's commence adding your Backed up Contacts to the Bluestacks Contacts App. The process will be sub-distinguished into two parts for ease:

Get the .vcf files into Bluestacks SD Card Storage

So the first sub-division of the procedure involves to get the Contact Files from your PC Storage to Bluestacks Storage (SD Card). Right Now, I'm just going to promptly tell you the steps, to see the details about how to get any file/folder into the Bluestacks Storage (TRIVIA), check the post in the following link:

So, the steps:

1. Copy the Folder containing only the .vcf (VCard) Contact files & Paste it in your "My Documents" / "Documents" Folder.

2. Now run Bluestacks & open ES File Explorer or any other File Manager App in it.

3. Go-to "bstfolder>>Documents" in Bluestacks using the File Exploring App.

4. You should now be able to see the Folder containing all your .vcf files (in Bluestacks), let's name it "Folder1" for instance.

5. Copy (not cut/move) the "Folder1" & paste it anywhere outside the "bstfolder" that was visited earlier in third point.

Import Contacts to your Bluestacks' Contacts App

Now that, we have the .vcf Contacts in Bluestacks SD Card Storage, let us import them into our Bluestacks Contacts App, as the second part of the process:

1. Open older Bluestacks Settings, by pressing the Time on Bluestacks Main Screen, then Clicking on the dialog box that appears & finally clicking on the "Settings" option that appears.

The Image, below, shows that Settings option:

2. Click on "Manage Contacts".

3. Click on the more options symbol on the top-right corner & choose "Import/Export".

4. Choose "Import from Storage".

5. Wait for a while, so that Bluestacks processes & then select the desired option out of the three: Import one file, multiple files or all files. AND wait for the procedure of importing to finish.

Note: In case you have large number of Contacts, I'll recommend you to choose Import Multiple files & select some files to import, then select next part & carry on this until all the Contacts import. Importing (large number of) all Contacts at once, many take a lot of time, maybe eternity lol!

So finally you should have got Contacts into the latest Bluestacks 0.8's Contacts app & they should also be readable to Apps like Whatsapp, Viber, Line etc.

I can also be contacted from "Contact Me" tab on the website, which include some private options, to contact also.
